Building materials can be obtained from a number of sources but the price can vary considerably. The prime suppliers are Builders Merchants , DIY Supermarkets

Builders Merchants

There are quite a few national companies to choose from and also smaller regional Builders merchants. The larger companies do now cater for Selfbuilders but because you are a "one off" builder you cannot get as good a discount as a larger builder would get. Some builders merchants will offer a service to selfbuilders which can include a "bill of quantities" being taken from your House plans.

DIY Supermarkets

Some large supermarkets cater for the building trade but again prices will not be that good. Also delivery from the supermarkets  can be a problem.
