Building tradesmen
Finding good tradesmen for your selfbuild house can be difficult. There are some good tradesmen but there are some "cowboys". By reading Yvonne + Glenns selfbuild story you will understand what I mean.
Recommendations
Always try to find some recommended tradesmen. If these tradesmen have done some good work for somebody else, go and have a look at their work and judge for yourself.
My experience
When I built my house the Builder , Plasterer , Plumber , Artexer and painter were recommended. The scaffolder , joiner and wall builders were not and that is where I had the majority of the problems and poor workmanship.
I would like to build a database of recommended tradesmen but I think there will be a difficulty in checking out the quality of their work.
Tradesmen Lancashire and Yorkshire
I know of the following experienced tradesmen that will work the Lancashire and Yorkshire area.
General Builder experienced in groundwork , Brick stone laying , concrete laying , drainage , block paving , roofing . This builder is NHBC registered and will take on complete selfbuilds.
Plasterer Very good plasterer that can wet plaster or dryline.
